WeMo, the home automation platform from Belkin, now can interact with the Nest Lab's Nest Thermostat. Using the latest WeMo app, your WeMo controlled lights and devices can turn off or on with Nest's knowledge of you when you leave and return home. It's no longer necessary to switch between WeMo and Nest apps either as you can use the WeMo app to control the Nest's target temperature. Interaction with Nest is supported on the WeMo Switch, WeMo Insight Switch, WeMo Light Switch, and WeMo maker.
Comcast announced that it would expand its Xfinity Home system by integrating devices from partners. Xfinity households will be able to manage the partner devices through the system's touchscreen, mobile app, Xfinity Remote with voice control and X1 Entertainment Operating System providing a wide range of control options.
Devices include Smart Locks from August, car adapters from Automatic, smart jewelry from Cuff, Smart Alert Nightlight from Leeo, wireless dimmers from Lutron, smart sprinkler controllers from Rachio, video doorbells from SkyBell and a pet monitor from Whistle. Later in 2015 Comcast will release an SDK that will make easier for entrepreneurs and developers to support the Xfinity Home platform. A "Works With Xfinity Home" certification will ensure that third party devices are compatible with the system.
